Our Donors
Harold Edelstein Foundation
The Harold Edelestein Foundation's mission statement is "Help the hungry and homeless and do something about population control, but do it directly in ways that have immediate, maximum effect." FFS is thankful to be one of the recipients of funds through "Harold Cares About Your Future, Ask Harold For Help." This enables FFS to offer parenting classes for parents between the ages of 14 and 21. It is a comprehensive 10-week incentive based parenting/employment class held in the evening. The program includes parenting and referrals, nutrition and health education, job preparation and employment assessment, resume development and substance abuse prevention. Incentive rewards include gift cards from Target for attending each session, drawings for gifts and children's toys, the support and guidance of a mentor and a graduation celebration at a local restaurant. Transportation assistance is available upon request. Our next session begins July. Please call the shelter @ (909) 931-1732 to enroll.
Lowe's Hardware
Our local Lowe's came out in force to volunteer their time and materials to give the landscaping at our shelter apartment's a much needed face lift. A big thank you to the volunteers, Sara Hector and Nick Thompson from Lowe's for coordinating this project with FFS's Facilities Manager, Kendrick Allen. In addition, Sgt. Poole from the Upland PD was instrumental in assisting with the permit and logistics of equipment. Our Mayor, the Honorable J.P. Pomierski came out to thank the Lowe's employees for their service and donation of time, materials and tools.
UPS
UPS donated their time and talents on January 22nd to our shelter. After several meetings and their engineers drafting a site plan; a small army of volunteers showed up to perform an "extreme makeover" on our back room/storage room. In the course of one day, they completely revamped the back room; constructing new shelving and arranging all of the food, hygiene products, toys, diapers, formula, clothes, blankets, household items and more into a beautiful storage and staging area. They then topped off the day presenting us a $2,500 check to assist us with our day to day operational costs. THANK YOU, UPS!
